A heady serving of rare gospel work from the Jamaican scene, tracks that were recorded during the same years as rocksteady and reggae, but with a much more spiritual vibe overall! The music here often shares a lot in terms of grooves with secular Jamaican sounds, but the recording style is maybe less dark overall, with the voices dominating even more, and instrumentation stripped down somewhat, although still with some nice grooves, and occasional tight guitar and organ from time to time!
