MESSAGE
This is an official reissue of Message` third album from 1975, remastered from original master tape out of the vaults of Warner Music Germany. A little bit less hard-rock, more prog and slightly jazzy but also song-oriented Message` third eponymous album is in competition for their best album. The opener ?Before Dawn? sets the mood perfectly, fading in with a superb melody courtesy of McGuigan on woodwinds. Every instrument sounds just fantastic. Second title 'Thoughts' is a perfect example of McGuigans mastery of the saxophone, sending shivers down your spine with his stretched notes and finishing the intro. Last title 'I Can See The World' showcases one of the two best basslines of the entire album. A wonderful catchy song and very upbeat! Side two starts with 'Waters', definitely a favourite song of many Message fans. The main riff could have come from a King Crimson album, twisted and dissonant. Murdochs offbeat guitar shuffle completing it perfectly, while drummer von Bohr just slams away as tight as one can be. Murdoch`s solo here is the best of the album with an octave - fuzz effect making it sound like hell! The further titles on side two are also great stuff, especially album closer 'Train To Nowhere' is just fantastic. Album comes with story and is remastered from the original mastertape.
