BIG AL GARNER
Crude RnB midtempo mover.
Al Garner started his recording career in the late 1950s on Champion Records under his nickname "Murfreesboro."
Al had been the drummer for many of Nashville's greats, Gene Allison, Roscoe Shelton and Larry Birdsong to name a few. By the early '60s, Al moved up to Excello Records, Nashville's most prominent blues label, finally recordding under his own name.
Al recorded several singles but none were big hits.
He soon resumed his career as a sideman, ending up in Texas as Freddie King's drummer through the mid-'60s.
